The Doctoral Program in Management Science at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) held an open doctoral promotion examination at Untar Campus I on Tuesday (02/06/2026). During the examination, Promovendus Edi Purwanto officially earned the 24th Doctoral Degree in Management Science from Untar with distinction. This achievement marks the third doctoral degree for Edi Purwanto. Previously, Edi Purwanto had earned doctoral degrees in Development Studies and Theology. For Edi Purwanto, this academic achievement is not merely intended to add another degree, but also reflects a commitment to continuously deepen knowledge, particularly in the field of management.
In his dissertation entitled “Determinants of Electric Vehicle Purchase Intention among Urban Communities in Jadetabek,” Edi Purwanto examined the factors influencing attitudes and purchase intentions toward electric vehicles among urban communities. The study integrates the Theory of Planned Behavior, the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, Social Exchange Theory, and Customer Value Theory to explain consumer behavior toward electric vehicles.
The findings show that environmental, technological, economic, and policy-related factors influence consumer attitudes toward electric vehicles. Consumer attitude also serves as a key mediator in shaping purchase intention. These findings are expected to contribute to policy development, marketing strategies, and the development of electric vehicle infrastructure in Indonesia.
Edi Purwanto currently serves as a lecturer in the Management Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya, with the academic rank of Associate Professor. He has also served as Director of the Institute for Research and Community Service since 2020.
In addition to his academic and institutional roles, Edi Purwanto has achieved several accomplishments as a lecturer and researcher. One of these achievements was receiving Hiliriset funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in 2025 for research on the design and development of the cabin exterior and interior of a multipurpose electric vehicle.
Through this achievement, Edi Purwanto hopes that the knowledge gained will provide broader benefits for the development of management science, higher education institutions, and society. This doctoral promotion examination also reflects Untar’s commitment to producing doctoral graduates who are excellent, have integrity, and are able to contribute to the advancement of science and national development.
