Students of the Master of Management Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (MM Untar) actively participated in a national webinar titled \u201cBuilding the Financial Future: Financial Literacy, Protection, and Access to Capital for the Young Generation\u201d, organized by the Indonesian Masters of Management Program Alliance (APMMI) on Friday (08\/01\/2025). The event was attended by over 990 participants from various universities and was broadcast live via Zoom. The webinar featured leaders from three key institutions within Indonesia\u2019s national financial ecosystem: BRI Group, PT Pegadaian, and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM). These speakers shared insights and strategies for expanding financial inclusion, strengthening the capacity of MSME actors, and fostering financial literacy awareness from an early age.<\/p>\n

The first speaker, Dani Wildan<\/strong>, EVP of Micro Business Development \u2013 BRI Group, discussed the challenges and opportunities in empowering MSMEs in Indonesia. He highlighted that 99.7% of businesses in Indonesia are MSMEs, and BRI has developed a three-phase empowerment framework: basic literacy, business literacy, and digital literacy. Through this approach, BRI has successfully distributed more than IDR 1,257 trillion in KUR (People\u2019s Business Credit) loans to 42 million recipients. \u201cDigitalization is no longer a competitive advantage\u2014it\u2019s a necessity,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Presentation by Aryo Swastika Nugroho dari BRI Insurance<\/p><\/div>\n

Continuing the session, Aryo Swastika Nugroho<\/strong> from BRI Insurance underlined the importance of risk protection in both personal and business financial planning. He explained that the penetration rate of general insurance in Indonesia remains low, below 1% of GDP. \u201cInsurance is not only about risk\u2014it\u2019s about long-term financial resilience,\u201d he explained, while introducing a range of protection products aimed at productive segments.<\/p>\n

Next, Zulfan Adam<\/strong>, SVP of the Pawn Division at PT Pegadaian, presented Pegadaian\u2019s transformation from a traditional financial institution into a driver of financial inclusion through modern pawn services. He demonstrated how Pegadaian now serves all business segments, from ultra-micro to large corporations, with loans ranging from IDR 50,000 to IDR 300 billion. He also highlighted special programs such as Gadai Bebas Bunga dan Gadai Peduli, designed for vulnerable groups including laborers, students, and housewives. \u201cWe are not just a lender, but a financial partner that is adaptive and inclusive,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Presentation by Sunar Basuki, Direktur Operasional PNM<\/p><\/div>\n

The final speaker, Sunar Basuki<\/strong>, Operational Director of PNM, explained the community-based empowerment approach through the Mekaar and PKU (Business Capacity Development) programs. He stressed the importance of consistent support for micro-entrepreneurs, from financing to character development and digital literacy. \u201cPNM has reached over 14 million women micro-entrepreneurs, and this is not just about numbers\u2014it\u2019s about transforming lives,\u201d he affirmed, while highlighting how the synergy between BRI, Pegadaian, and PNM under the Ultra Micro Holding is accelerating financial inclusion across Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The webinar was moderated by Prof. Rofikoh Rokhim, Ph.D.<\/strong>, and officially opened by Prof. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D.<\/strong>, Chairman of APMMI, who emphasized the importance of academic and student engagement in understanding the dynamics of the national financial system.<\/p>\n

Dr. Keni, S.E., M.M.<\/strong>, Head of MM Untar, added, “This activity aligns with the vision of the MM Untar program to become an entrepreneurial Master of Management study program of excellence with integrity and professionalism in Southeast Asia. Students gain firsthand insights from industry leaders, enriching their perspectives as future business leaders.”<\/p>\n
