Learning doesn\u2019t always mean sitting in a classroom. Sometimes, the most valuable lessons come when students go out into the community\u2014listening, sharing, and experiencing the realities of social life firsthand.<\/em><\/p>\n

This was the spirit carried by the Master of Management Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (MM Untar) during their Community Service (PKM) activity held on Sunday (07\/27\/2025) at Sekolah Bingkai Jalanan\u2014an informal learning community that serves as a safe space for children from underprivileged neighborhoods in the Senen area of Central Jakarta..<\/p>\n

As part of a collaborative initiative to apply academic knowledge in real-life situations while cultivating social awareness, this activity involved MM Untar students: Elisha Sanjaya (117241016), Evelyne Alycia (117241018), Felita Yulianti (117241019), Lea Nia (117241024), Reyliane Oklayedwi C (117241026), Fernando (117241030), and Edwin (117241046), accompanied by two faculty members: Dr. Keni, S.E., M.M., and Dr. Alexander, S.E., M.M.<\/p>\n

The session began with an introduction to the concept of the marketing mix through simple stories and an interactive discussion designed to be accessible for children. The goal was to equip them with basic marketing knowledge that could help their families develop small businesses. The children’s enthusiasm was palpable as they eagerly asked and answered questions throughout the session. This learning was followed by a series of fun educational games that encouraged teamwork and reinforced a love of learning. Laughter and positive energy filled the afternoon. At the end of the activity, students distributed prizes, handed out small gifts, and shared dinner with the children.<\/p>\n

MM Untar also donated a new study desk along with school supplies such as books, crayons, and stationery to support the learning process at Sekolah Bingkai Jalanan. “Activities like this are important to build students\u2019 social awareness. They don\u2019t just learn theory\u2014they practice humanity and leadership,” said Dr. Keni.<\/p>\n

From this shared moment, the theme Hope Grows Here truly found its meaning\u2014that hope can grow from simple things. Despite coming from economically challenged backgrounds, the children of Sekolah Bingkai Jalanan show an unbreakable passion for learning. This reminds us that a brighter future for Indonesia is growing, slowly but surely. “I\u2019ve learned so much from these children. They\u2019re full of spirit and never give up. It gave me a new perspective on what success really means,” said Elisha Sanjaya, one of the participating students.<\/p>\n

For MM Untar, this visit was not only about teaching\u2014but also about learning. Learning about empathy, reality, and the importance of being present for others.
