The Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) Region III, through Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Director of the Postgraduate Program (PPs) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), held a session to share experiences and strategies for faculty career development as part of efforts to enhance the competence of academic staff.
As a keynote speaker in the event themed “Optimizing the Competence of Academic Staff in Managing Faculty Careers and Enhancing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Off-Campus Activities,” Prof. Agustinus emphasized that planning faculty development is a crucial aspect—not only for universities but also for the lecturers themselves. He highlighted the importance of clear planning, adequate resource preparation, system support, and continuous monitoring. According to him, lecturers are the main assets of a university and must receive serious attention from all stakeholders. With strong support, they can consistently uphold the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—education, research, and community service—while building extensive networks with professionals, industry, and the business world. Lecturers, he added, can serve as role models when equipped with the right qualifications, competencies, and experiences, allowing them to engage meaningfully in broader academic and professional communities.
The event, held on Wednesday (10/29/2025) at Universitas Dirgantara Marsekal Suryadarma, Campus C, East Jakarta, aimed to strengthen the capacity of academic staff in supporting faculty career development and achieving universities’ Key Performance Indicators (IKU), particularly those related to off-campus activities.
As an academic leader actively involved in strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, Prof. Agustinus shared his experiences and strategies for building an effective faculty career management system while fostering stronger collaboration between universities and the professional world.
