The academic benchmarking visit of the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Tarumanagara (PPs Untar) to the Asian Institute of Technology, School of Management (AIT SOM), Bangkok, Thailand, proceeded smoothly on Monday (09/29/2025). This activity was carried out to explore opportunities for international cooperation covering academic, research, and non-academic fields.
A welcoming speech was delivered by Prof. Yuosre Badir, Dean of AIT SOM, followed by a presentation on AIT’s campus profile, including its campuses in Vietnam and the Philippines. Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Director of PPs Untar and head of the delegation, expressed gratitude for the warm reception. “We appreciate the very warm and open welcome from AIT for the PPs Untar team. We hope this collaborative initiative can be the first step toward future cooperation between PPs Untar and AIT,” said Prof. Agustinus in his remarks.
AIT SOM presented their academic programs and best practices that have been implemented in collaboration with various international universities. At the same time, PPs Untar highlighted the strengths of its Master of Management (MM) and Doctor of Management Science (DIM) programs. The discussion between the two institutions was productive and resulted in several collaborative agreements, including public lectures, speakers at international conferences, external examiners and dissertation supervisors for the doctoral program, involvement as journal reviewers, faculty and student exchanges, as well as joint research and publications.
These agreements were formalized in an official document signed by the leaders of both institutions, marking the first step toward establishing strategic cooperation through a memorandum of understanding. The approximately two-hour meeting was attended by program heads (Prof. Keni and Prof. Haris), managers (Dr. Paula, Dr. Agung, Dr. Cokki), and administrative staff from MM and DIM Untar. From AIT SOM, the attendees included the Assistant Deans (Dr. Kamonkanok Kiatisakchai, M. Zia Islam, Chomchaba Katinted) and the Director of the Doctoral Program (Dr. Muhammad Junaid).
The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a campus tour to introduce the learning environment and available facilities. Through this activity, PPs Untar strengthens its international network to produce globally oriented graduates.
