The Contribution of Untar’s Postgraduate Program to Improve the Quality of Publications in Higher Education Institutions under LLDIKTI Region III

As part of its support for the implementation of the 2025 Research and Community Service Program, and in an effort to improve the quality of research and community engagement, the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region III held a National Scientific Journal Article Writing Workshop for lecturers on Tuesday (07/29/2025), at Universitas Indraprasta (Unindra) PGRI.

Akhmad Sefudin, S.E., M.M., Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LRPM) at Unindra PGRI and host of the event, emphasized the importance of cultivating a spirit of publication among lecturers. “It is our hope that all participants leave here with renewed enthusiasm and a better understanding, ready to begin publishing in academic journals,” said Akhmad Sefudin. He also advised that all research outputs produced by lecturers should be carefully documented so that when the time comes to apply for academic promotions, all necessary requirements are complete and readily available—thus speeding up the process.

Representing the Head of LLDIKTI Region III, Aprie Wellandira Suhardi, S.A.P., Head of the Research and Community Service Work Team, expressed appreciation to Unindra for hosting the workshop. “We extend our gratitude to the leadership of Unindra for facilitating today’s workshop. May the knowledge gained during this session be applied effectively and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of academic functional ranks among lecturers in LLDIKTI Region III, thereby enhancing the overall quality of education,” said Aprie in her remarks. She also noted that many lecturers in LLDIKTI Region III still do not hold academic functional positions, citing a lack of confidence in writing for national scientific journals and insufficient understanding of proper academic writing standards as major barriers.

The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Professor at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), who delivered a presentation titled “The Role and Strategy of Scientific Publications as the First Step Toward Academic Promotion for Lecturers.” He shared strategies and best practices for writing research-based articles that meet SINTA accreditation standards and encouraged early-career lecturers to consistently write and publish their scholarly work. “We sincerely thank LLDIKTI Region III for the opportunity given to Untar to contribute to this event. Mentoring early-career lecturers is vital so they understand from the outset how to produce meaningful scientific work—not only to support academic promotions but also to enhance the reputation of their institutions,” Prof. Agustinus concluded.

Through its involvement, the Postgraduate Program at Untar (PPs Untar) has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the capacity building of lecturers in higher education, particularly in improving the quality of national scientific publications. The presence of Prof. Agustinus as a speaker reflects PPs Untar’s active role in fostering an excellent and collaborative academic ecosystem. The event was attended by early-career lecturers from various universities in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
