Doctoral Program in Management Holds Qualification Exam, Emphasizes Quality Publications

The Doctoral Program in Management Science (DIM) at the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) held the inauguration ceremony for the 8th cohort of students, along with the qualification exams for the 7th cohort. The event took place on Saturday (07/12/2025), at the 13th floor of the Main Building, Campus 1, Untar. During his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Haris Maupa, S.E., M.Si., Head of the DIM Program, explained, “The purpose of combining the inauguration with the qualification exams is to give the 8th cohort an opportunity to physically attend campus and directly observe the qualification process of the 7th cohort. This way, they can better understand what lies ahead in their doctoral journey.” The inauguration, marking the students’ formal entry into the academic community of Untar, included the presentation of alma mater jackets by the Director of the Graduate Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU., Asean Eng., followed by the distribution of student ID cards by Prof. Haris.

The qualification exams for the 7th cohort, held concurrently, provided students with a platform to present their research ideas and concepts, which will later form the basis of their dissertations. The exams serve as a benchmark for assessing academic progress and the depth of knowledge gained during their first semester in the DIM program—aiming to foster high-quality research output. In his address, Prof. Agustinus stated, “This moment serves as a foundation for students to develop a shared vision and mission, encouraging them to fully commit to their studies and complete the doctoral program on time.” He also highlighted that the one-on-one meetings with examiners offered students valuable opportunities to receive direct feedback and guidance on their dissertation research. “Congratulations to all students who successfully passed the qualification exam. May this be the beginning of your research proposal development and preparation of quality publications, which are essential for graduation,” Prof. Agustinus concluded in his closing statement. He once again emphasized the importance of producing research works with international reputations.

As part of the program’s periodic quality assurance efforts, the qualification exams were conducted under the supervision of both in-person and virtual examiners. The on-site examiners included: Prof. Dr. Ir. Dyah Erny Herwindiati, M.Si.; Prof. Dr. Ignatius Roni Setyawan, S.E., M.Si.; Dr. Sarwo Edy Handoyo, S.E., M.M., CIFM., GRC-E.; Dr. Hetty Karunia Tunjungsari, S.E., M.Si.; Dr. Cokki, S.E., M.M.; dan Dr. Keni, S.E., M.M.; and online examiners included: Prof. Ir.
