The Director of the Postgraduate Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU., ASEAN Eng., was invited to serve as an external examiner at the Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) on Monday (26/5/2025).
The doctoral defense took place at the FTMD Seminar Building on the ITB campus. The candidate, Heriana, a research staff member from the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Defense (KEMHAN), defended her dissertation titled “Numerical Analysis and Ballistic Impact Testing of Glass, Carbon, and Kevlar Fiber-Reinforced Composite Plates.” The promoter team included Prof. Dr. Ir. Leonardo Gunawan, the late Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Kismono Hadi, M.Sc., DIC, and Col. (Eng.) Dr. Gunaryo, S.T., M.T. (Ministry of Defense). The examination committee comprised Dr. Annisa Jusuf, S.T., M.T., Satrio Wicaksono, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, with the session chaired by Prof. Ir. Andi Isra Mahyuddin, Ph.D.
Prof. Agustinus, widely known as Prof. API, expressed his appreciation to FTMD ITB for the continued trust and the opportunity to contribute as an external examiner. “My sincere gratitude to ITB for inviting me to actively participate in this doctoral examination. This represents a meaningful collaboration between public and private universities, and is a tangible outcome of the academic partnership between Untar and ITB,” he stated.
Prof. API has been regularly invited to FTMD ITB as an external doctoral examiner, further highlighting his academic contributions at the national level. During the session, Dr. Heriana successfully defended her dissertation and was declared to have passed. Congratulations were extended to her and her family on this academic achievement, with hopes for continued success and impactful future contributions.
The event also held special significance, with the attendance of Mrs. Bambang, the wife of the late Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Kismono Hadi, DIC, who served as the main dissertation promoter. Prof. Bambang had also been an external examiner for Prof. Agustinus’s own doctoral defense at Universitas Indonesia between 2007 and 2010 — marking a meaningful and personal connection within the academic journey.
