Three students from the Master of Management Program at Universitas Tarumanagara participated in the Global Network Week (GNAM Week), which took place from March 10–12, 2025, at Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta. With the theme “A Path to Net Zero: Business Role in Helping Solve the Global Climate Crisis”, the event brought together academics, business practitioners, and participants from various countries to discuss concrete solutions to the climate crisis.
Over the course of three days, participants gained insights from prominent speakers who addressed various strategic issues related to sustainable development. One of the main topics highlighted was the importance of transitioning to a green economy, where the business sector plays a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies.
Among the key speakers was Budiman Sudjatmiko (Head of the Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation), who emphasized cross-sector collaboration in developing clean energy and leveraging big data and blockchain to democratize access to green technology. Luky Yusgiantoro from SKK Migas discussed the challenges within the fossil energy sector and the shift toward more sustainable sources such as natural gas and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage).
Other speakers included Sonny Hendra Sudaryana from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemenkomdigi), who spoke about the acceleration of the digital ecosystem as part of the green economic development strategy, and Yohanna Keraf from DuAnyam, who introduced a social business model that empowers women through community-based crafts industries.
The event also connected participants with industry players from leading companies such as PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, PT PLN Indonesia, and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), who shared their sustainability strategies—from climate risk management to the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
In addition to presentations and Q&A sessions, GNAM Week included a field visit to a company to directly observe the implementation of sustainable business practices. This experience enriched the students’ understanding of the net zero emission concept and opened opportunities for cross-sector and international collaboration.
The participation of MM Untar students in this event reflects the university’s global outlook in shaping adaptive, critical, and sustainability-conscious leaders. This experience also broadened students’ international perspectives through intercultural interactions, strengthened their global networking capabilities, and enhanced their sustainability literacy—skills that are essential for tackling future business challenges.
