The Master of Management Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (MM Untar) held a webinar titled “Intellectual Property in the Digital Era” via Zoom on Monday (22/05/2023). The event featured Ir. Aribudhi Nugroho Suyono, M.IPL. from the Directorate of Patents, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits, and Trade Secrets as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Lina, S.T., M.Kom., Ph.D., a lecturer from the Master of Management and Informatics Engineering Programs at Universitas Tarumanagara.
Dr. Keni, S.E., M.M., Head of the Master of Management Program, opened the session by highlighting how the development paradigm of a country has shifted in the digital era—making Intellectual Property (IP) a vital legal asset. Ownership of IP, he noted, plays a significant role in driving a nation’s economic growth and overall prosperity.
In his session, Aribudhi Nugroho Suyono stated that countries with human resources (HR) rooted in intellectual property are significantly wealthier than those with abundant natural resources (NR) but lack IP-based human capital.

He further explained that universities play a critical role in developing such human capital by fostering research and innovation. These research efforts not only support universities themselves but also benefit society and the nation as a whole by contributing to economic growth through technology. “This, in turn, enhances the quality of the education system and improves the well-being of both universities and the wider community,” he concluded.
The webinar attracted strong enthusiasm from participants from various backgrounds, including students, academics, and professionals. The interactive discussions and Q&A session enriched participants’ understanding of how intellectual property can be applied in both personal and professional contexts.
