The Master’s in Management Program at Universitas Tarumanagara (MM Untar) held a Graduate Briefing Seminar with the theme “The Whole Mind Leadership” at the Main Building of Untar Campus 1 on Saturday (25/02/2023), as part of the MM Untar Graduation Ceremony for the Odd Semester of 2022/2023. The event featured Ir. Suhartono Chandra, M.M., CODP, from Paramount Consulting Indonesia as the keynote speaker and was attended by students, faculty members, and invited guests.
This presentation was part of the Graduate Briefing Seminar designed to strengthen and prepare graduates to become leaders in the professional world and entrepreneurship. During the session, he discussed the importance of leadership that integrates rational, emotional, and intuitive aspects in decision-making. Participants gained insights into how a leader should balance logical analysis and emotional intelligence when facing challenges in business and organizational environments. Suhartono Chandra also emphasized the importance of building a strong vision, adapting to change, and fostering effective communication in modern leadership.
Suhartono Chandra explained the concept of Whole Mind Leadership, which has become increasingly relevant in the post-pandemic era. According to him, Whole Mind Leadership is a leadership approach that leverages four human thinking abilities: Thinker, Challenger, Dreamer, and Lover. Each thinking ability produces three leader roles, resulting in 12 leadership roles known as Whole Mind Leadership. Furthermore, Suhartono Chandra elaborated on these human thinking abilities. “Thinker is a leader who heavily relies on logic, Challenger is a leader who enjoys challenges, Dreamer is a creative leader, and Lover is a leader who deeply cares for their team,” explained the CEO of Paramount Consulting. The twelve roles include regulator, planner, administrator, motivator, achiever, competitive, innovator, change agent, trend watcher, role model, parent figure, and mentor.
Suhartono Chandra hopes that MM graduates can utilize this leadership model to stay relevant and competitive in the ever-evolving professional and business world. “I hope you are ready to become leaders, become Whole Mind Leaders,” he concluded. Participants showed high enthusiasm during the discussion, sharing experiences, and asking questions about the implementation of the Whole Mind Leadership concept in the workplace. With this seminar, it is hoped that MM Untar graduates will become adaptive, innovative, and solution-oriented leaders.
